Life for Rent .

How would it be if you could give your life for rent ? Just like they do for the houses. Give your life to someone to occupy and take charge. You still own it . And you also get some benefit out of it. Say money.
Rent out your life to someone, let them make the decisions, take actions, do whatever they want without spoiling the condition of your life . You just have to collect money every month .
Its fun . You don't have to worry about anything . Pros and cons of your actions , decisions , directions , risks, complications ...
And since you own it , you can always get it back for own use !

Sadly, people have done that! I'm talking of scores of youngsters who lead a so very mechanical life - at school? you are free; oh, plus two? you've got to go for tuitions; done with plus two? choose engg; end of third yr? get placed in software; in software? you are where you set out to be, enjoy!
I find this no different from what you have described. Someone else (usually parents, sometimes friends) have already decided what you'll do. They are taking decisions for you. They make you act. And people unquestioningly accept this. And they are so comfortable with it that they don't even know they can question these things! They don't have unique dreams, no unique goals...
Essentially, life for rent...

Working life is the rented life. The boss made all the dicisions and the workers follow.
The workers do it for money.
If everything a person do is for god, his/her life is being rented to god. Because he/she did not make any decision but whatever god wants.
Anyway, I do not think god will ask anything from anyone. Some religious leaders did.

If you have given your house for rent, you'll know how it's returned to you when the tenants leave it. You need to get pretty much the entire house cleaned, repainted, floor work redone, doors fixed, locks replaced and so on, so forth.

You really don't want that to happen to your life. It's never fun overhauling life. Never.

@ Aravind,
Think this way. The society has identified something which is called a 'happy state' and most people develop goals which gravitate around attaining this state! So, the best method is to follow societal ways without much thought because they are assured of 'happiness'.
Now to think something different implies a risk . And most people most times choose convenient paths . Isnt it natural to choose an easier path ? :)

@ Loong,
I don't know about God. But renting out life to anyone is a good idea you think ?

@Shreekrishna,
I realise its not as straightforward as renting out a house ! In case of the house, you are atleast sure to get it back in the right shape after investing something . But I see thats the not the case with life .
Getting back 'as-it-was' after letting someone else live is probably impossible !

Renting out your death would be a lot more fun, don't you think? It may not be as simple as renting out a house or even a life. And it poses some unique challenges like how would you reclaim your death, and if you could indeed do that, would you want to?

Recently I read somewhere, a american girl was trying to give herself on rent to a highest bidder on eBay. eBay had the profile removed from their site once they realised it was just another veriation of prostitution.

Hey Piyush,
Geek and me ? :P Hehe!
You shouldn't be saying that especially after you read the Technological challenges post!

And that question is interesting! Is there anyone whose life is so gud that I can rent it out ! :)
